Juice bar or Juicer?
It's not hard to see why fruit juice bars are still growing strong with very affordable, quick and much healthier alternatives to most other drinks. Australians seem to be increasingly aware of these healthier options and, in most cases, taking full advantage of them. A quick stroll past a juice bar, in a major shopping centre, around lunch time on a weekend and you'll see almost as many staff as an apple store working frantically to fill the orders of a growing crowd.
Just how much effort are we really putting in to health these days? When asked, most people were unaware that some Low-Fat Smoothies contained more total carbohydrates, calories and fats than some soft drinks. Though still the healthier of those two options, it's time to start a re-education on what is truly healthy and what has just been advertised as fresh and delicious.
On most juice bar menus it's not until you get down to the real fruit crushes or plain fruit juices before you can see a real change in the health benefits; well under half the calories and total fats. Take into account the process which most juice bars use to extract these juices or the juices they use, and all the independent studies done into the increased health benefits of slow juicing maybe it's time we leave the juice bar fad in our wake and literally bring it home.
As the competition for a decently priced, slow (cold press) juicer "heats" up; some great new products are hitting the shelves. While a top of the range juicer 5 + years ago would have cost you an arm and a leg some of the best cold press juicers available now will leave you with your wallet intact.
Juicers Australia lists their best, most competitively priced, juicer as the Coway Juicepresso and there's little surprise, after using this machine, why it's so highly praised. For the same price in groceries as a 650mL juice at the local juice bar, you can get over 1100mL of fresh [without separation or foam] juice, which will last over 24hours.
It's not just Juicepresso that has done their homework though; many natural health food stores and nutritionists are starting to sell Juicepresso and really giving it the two thumbs up. "The juicer is affordable, easy to use and best of all easy to clean up." Shiningstar
If you're interested in ongoing, good health: get into cold press juicing.
